Christian Vega, Esq.

Areas of Speciality: Federal Deportation Defense; Federal Deportation Appeals; Custody; waivers; family based immigration matters

Christian is an experienced immigration attorney. He is the son of Mexican and Bolivian parents and bilingual in Spanish and English. Christian cares about your case. Because of his cultural background, he understands the journey immigrants undergo in order to achieve a better life for themselves and their family in the United States. He cares about helping you defend, adjust, or resolve your immigration status. Christian has experience representing clients in immigration court, on appeal before the Board of Immigration Court of Appeals (BIA), before the Administrative Appeals Office (AAO), the Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and before the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Office (USCIS) in Fairfax, Virginia and Norfolk, Virginia. Christian's primary practice is deportation defense. Christian understands how incredibly important your immigration status is to you and your family livelihood. Therefore, he approaches each case with a desire to understand each client's story, goals, and then works to set up a plan to achieve the best possible outcome.

Immigration law is a complicated area of law and you should trust an attorney with experience and knowledge. Christian has represented hundreds of clients in Immigration Court. He has tried dozens of cases in Immigration Court, and secured favorable outcomes in several of them including: Withholding of Removal under the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), Withholding of Removal under the United Nations (U.N.) Convention Against Torture (CAT), and Deferral of Removal under CAT. He has also successfully had Immigration Judges reopen removal proceedings, terminate removal proceedings, dismissal removal proceedings, and administratively close removal proceedings, depending on the case's circumstances.  Christian has a record of results in immigration court, but he is also realistic and appreciates the serious consequences of losing a case. Depending on your case, Christian may work with you to resolve your case with federal immigration authorities by agreement if your interests are best served in this manner.

Christian has represented clients in various petitions and applications before USCIS. He has helped clients file Form I-130, Form I-130A, Form I-485, Form I-212 Waiver, Form I-601 Waiver, and Form I-601A Unlawful Presence Waiver. He has helped clients in appeals to the AAO of denials of I-212 decisions, and denials of applications for Form I-821 Deferred Action of Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Christian has successfully helped clients defend the termination of their naturalization status. Christian has experience in lawsuits against the federal government in writ of mandamus lawsuits for pending immigration applications including naturalization (N-400) applications, and permanent residency (I-485) applications. Christian also actively appears in Virginia Juvenile and Domestic Relations Courts (JDR) in order to help parents gain physical and legal custody of their children and ultimately help their children secure Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS) through USCIS.

For the past two years, Christian worked as a county prosecutor. First as an Assistant Commonwealth Attorney for Prince William County, Virginia, and then moving to Fairfax County's Commonwealth Attorney's Office. He gained valuable trial experience, trying over 40 bench trials in general district court and juvenile district court; worked with Virginia State Troopers, police officers, and first responders; and worked with victims and witnesses. As a prosecuting attorney, Christian's responsibility was to protect the community against criminals. But as your immigration attorney, he recognizes that above all else it is his privilege and duty to protect your interests before the government in order to secure the best outcome for you.

Christian is married, lives in Fairfax, Virginia, with his wife. He enjoys swimming, trying local breweries and wineries, and traveling with his wife.
